Jodi Simkin

Management Consultant - Tribal Affairs


Jodi has come to the Trust from Canada where she has over thirty years of tribal engagement and non-profit experience. She is a graduate of the Secwepemc Cultural Educational Society/Simon Fraser University Program located on the Kamloops Indian Reserve in British Columbia.

As a trained archeologist and museum specialist, Jodi has a deep connection and understanding of tribal issues and has dedicated her career to supporting advancement of social justice and reconciliation. She is a past President of the BC Museums Association, an appointed Co-Chair of the BCMA Indigenous Advisory Committee,  and a co-author of Knowledge Within: Treasures of the Northwest Coast, a book chronicling the Indigenous collections of coastal communities. She has written position papers on reconciliation for organizations including UNESCO Canada and is frequently called upon to present at conferences throughout Canada and the USA.

Jodi is a founding member of All Nations Paddles Up, an international grassroots group supporting year-round access to tribal canoe culture. She is a member of the Tl’emtl’ems Canoe Family, the Strong Women of the Water Canoe, and is a three-time Director of Tribal Journeys, the largest gathering of Indigenous Peoples along coastal corridor of Alaska, British Columbia, and Washington State.

Enticed by the opportunity to help develop a tribally governed cultural heritage project led Jodi to Oregon, where she is excited to join the Willamette Falls Trust team to help realize the vision for this sacred site.
