Julie Vigeland is a former high school English teacher who has spent the last 40 years as a civic volunteer in the Portland Community.
Currently she is Vice Chair of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies based in Washington D.C. Julie continues to serve as a Trustee for the Jackson Foundation and has done so for over 30 years.
Julie is board Emeritus of the Portland Center Stage Board after serving as chair for five years. She also served as the Capital Campaign chair for the theater’s Gerding Theater at the Armory. She is past President and current board Emeritus of the Multnomah Athletic Foundation. Julie also chaired the Portland Parks Board and now serves as an Emeritus member.
She was appointed by two governors to terms on the Oregon Arts Commission and served as Chair for three years. Julie is a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum. Previously, she served as President of Grantmakers of Oregon and SW Washington.
